17th May 2009 was Rogation Sunday
and the traditional Beating of the Bounds walk was held.
These photos were taken during the walk. Here is the
write-up published in the June '09 parish magazine.
"Rogation Sunday (17th May)
Beating the Parish Bounds.
The day dawned as is the tradition
wet and windy! After every morning shower there was
a ‘phone call asking. “Is the walk still on”. We met
at the church, fourteen walking, one carried, two dogs
and four stayed behind to prepare the important, welcoming
tea at the Church Room on our return.
We experienced spring, summer,
winter and autumn on our five mile walk, doing a very
good time of just over two hours. We headed down to
the Mounton brook, up over the ridge to Howick and through
the wood to Middle Lodge, through the tunnel to Mounton
and back up the lane to Shirenewton. We all agreed it
blew away any cobwebs that were lurking."
