six nations kick-off 2014

About 50 people packed into the Church Room on Friday 31st January to enjoy the annual six nations kick off.

Following our support last year for the Great Britian Wheelchair Rugby charity, this year we were lucky to get David Pond, Chief Executive of GB Wheelchair Rugby as our speaker.

Following 28 years in the Royal Navy, David Pond became CEO of Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby in November 2009. He has overseen its transition to deliver a wide range of programmes covering Spinal Injury Units, Military Rehabilitation Units, Youth and community organisations. David is a regular speaker on leadership and governance.

David gave an engaging talk which was illustrated by film clips and which provoked a lively Q&A session.

Once again thanks to Jane and Glynis for the fabulous ‘six nations’ ploughmans meal and the pay bar with a ‘six nations’ theme. The ever popular predictor was also featured.

The event itself raised just over a profit of £930 which was split with the Great Britian Wheelchair Rugby charity.
