open day 07The 'Church in the Village Flower Festival' and open day was held over the weekend 22nd/23rd September 07.
Various groups from in and around the village were invited to create a flower arrangement that somehow would represent their group. Arrangements from the Brownies, the Guides, the Scouts, the Sunday Club and from the After School Club from Shirenewton Primary were featured and even had a basket of paper posies from the youngest in the community - the Playgroup. Also there were floral displays from those that have more experience in flower arranging - from the History Society - to the Community Council.
So over the weekend of 22nd /23rd September, the church full of wonderful flowers and friendly people, the church tower was full of excited teddies waiting to do their parachute jumps, the bottom church yard was full of enthusiastic dogs waiting for the agility show and even the new (and not yet finished) church extension was full of hungry people eating the excellent ploughman's lunches.
Although not envisaged as a primary fund raising event the day still generated over £700.
