Welcome to the Mid Life Cyclists 250 mile 'Tour de Pays de Galles'!

250 miles St Davids --> Shirenewton completed on 12th June

A village team of men from Shirenewton, Mynyddbach, Itton & Earlswood (the "Mid Life Cyclists") recently completed a sponsored cycle ride (the "Tour de Pays de Galles") which totalled over 300 miles and has raised close to £10,000 (final figure still being computed!) towards the Shirenewton Church Extension Appeal.

The Taff Trail a 58 mile ride from Brecon to Cardiff (the orange coloured route 'number 8' on the map shown above) was completed 17th April 04 (click here for more details). This was the ‘warm up’ to the main event - the 250 miles Celtic Trail which runs from St Davids (Wales most westerly point) to Chesptow in the east.

The Celtic Trail was completed over 3½ days (June 9th - 12th). We took the route along the coast - shown in green 'number 4' on the map above.

The Mid Life Cyclists comprise Mark Broughton (chief advocate and leader), Kevin Bounds, David Cornwell, Rob Duckham, Jon Hancock and Robert Thomas. Average age 48!
