Celtic Trail (250 miles)
- Day 1 We met at the Shirenewton Rec at 7:00am. The final two bikes were loaded onto the van whilst the weigh-in (independently adjudicated by John Nicholas) was under way! This was required as part of the Yummies fete stall was to be a 'guess the collective weight gain/loss of the cyclists' competition. We then set out arriving at St Davids at around 10:30am.
Setting off from St Davids Cathedral, the first stop was about 1/2 mile away for an offical 'Celtic Trail' Stamp at the St Davids Tourist Information centre. Then off onto the Celtic Trail. Alas 4.5 miles out of St Davids Robert's chain broke!
Luckily this had been part of contigency planning, a suitable tool was produced and Robert proved equally adept at chain repair as he had at puncture repair on the Taff Trail. Lunch at Broad Haven. Bicycle shop at Neyland near Pembroke Dock to get a new chain. Via Pembroke Castle to Saundersfoot and The Woodlands Hotel.
