kilimanjaro - 11th july - climb day 6

When the day started we were already 1 hour into our climb to Uhuru peak. This was a very long day. Having reached Stella Point at around 5:00am and then Uhuru peak at around 5:50am, we set off back to Barafu from Stella Point at 7:00am arriving shortly after 10:00am. Three hours rest and then on downwards via Mellinnium Camp to Mweka camp at 3,340m (10,958ft) arriving at about 6:00pm. That is a drop from Uhuru peak in high of approximately 1.75 vertical miles. going down was tough.

And so we had done it. The way down was very tough. Dropping 1.75 verticle miles in the space of a few hours having been up all night walking is not easy! The next day was a gentle, down hill, walk to Mweka gate.
