kilimanjaro fund raising climb

On 4th July seven intrepid explorers set off on an attempt to climb Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro - the largest highest free standing mountain in the World with Uhuru Peak being 5,895 metres (19,341 feet) - this is  515 meters (1,640ft) higher than Everest Base Camp. The mountain itself rises 4600 m (15,100 feet) from the base.  Read more on Kilimanjaro here at wikipedia.

All seven made it to Uhuru Peak at ~5:54am on Sunday 11th July. The full story with photos can be accessed from the left hand menu or go to the story summary. It looks like we raised around £15,000 - so many thanks to all the generous sponsors.

Needless to say, this is a sponsored climb as we were raising money to pay off the Church's debt (incurred by the building of the extension - see the extension story here). Part of the funds raised will be contributed to African charities and an Irish charity. More information on the charities we are supporting.

It's never to late to support these foolhardy souls and you can still support our church now using your credit card through the secure Paypal website.

You do not need to have a Paypal account to make a donation!  If you prefer to support an individual team member please click here.   Alternatively download a sponsorship form here.
